Studying for the GMAT and preparing for your future business school can be a stressful time. However, the anxiety and frustration you feel now can be overcome, to help you focus more on the task at hand, so you can succeed on the test and get into the school of your dreams. The key is to spread out your preparation into manageable tasks so you never feel like things are out of control. Here are a few tips for overcoming anxiety leading up to the GMAT:

  • Don’t procrastinate. The GMAT requires 4 to 6 months of preparation and at least 8 weeks of review if you want to reach optimal results.
  • Learn the format. The test is divided into 4 sections: Analytical Writing, Integrated Reasoning, Quantitative, and Verbal. This helps you understand the type of work that will be required of you on test day.
  • Read instructions. Follow the directions of the test and pace yourself so you are able to answer all of the questions in the time limit.

Remember to breathe, eat a healthy breakfast on the morning of the test, and study the material, and you will be well on your way to dominating the GMAT!
